Northeast Gets its First Breast Milk Bank Guwahati, Dec 10: The first human milk bank has been inaugurated at the Satribari Christian Hospital in Guwahati to store pasteurized breast milk. It came into operation on December 9 and it is the first in the entire North East region. There are only 15 human breast milk banks in the country including this newly inaugurated one at Shatribari. It has been established with a donation of Rupees 10 lakh. It is a much needed development in the neonatal care.
