Voting underway for Tiwa Autonomous Council

Morigaon, December 19: Voting for the Tiwa Autonomous Council elections has begun. Voting began at 7:30am on Thursday in as many as 18 Tiwa Autonomous Council’s constituencies in Morigaon district and will end at 4:30pm. Notably, of the total 19 constituencies in Morigaon district, BJP’s Moni Ram Pator has already been elected to the Council unopposed. From the Gobha seat. Voting for the remaining 18 seats in Morigaon district is underway. To ensure hassle-free and fair elections as many as 5 companies of paramilitary forces haves been deployed in the district. Notably, as a precautionary measure, the Kamrup-Metro district administration had already declared Thursday as a ‘dry day’ in certain parts of the district, prohibiting sale, consumption and possession of liquor.
