AASU opens private employment exchange in Jorhat
Jorhat , December 19: All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) president Dipanka Kumar Nath on Friday inaugurated a private employment exchange in Jorhat. The private employment exchange has been set up to assist local youths to in getting employment at private companies and firms. AASU President Dipanka Kumar Nath, in his address, while praising the initiative said, “The idea of opening an employment exchange for providing jobs to local youths had come up in the Duliajan conference of the students’ body last month and the employment exchange materializing within a short period was a positive step.” The initiative is said to be first of its kind by AASU in the State and was done in collaboration with Guidance Information-cum Counseling Centre, a local organization. “The employment exchange will run in a professional manner by persons who have knowledge of the same and will be functioning like a placement-cum counselling centre by charging a minimum registration fee of Rs 200,” said Jorhat unit of the AASU. The initiative has been launched to help local qualified and skilled youths to get employed in all categories of jobs in the private sector. Counselling and guidance will be provided to the youths who will be registering in the centre. However, the agency will expect the youth who gets employment via the facility to reimburse Rs 2000 after he/she gets his first salary.
