10 newborn babies die in Maharashtra hospital fire
Maharashtra, January 9: In a tragic incident, 10 newborn babies died when the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Bhandara District General Hospital (BDGH) in Maharashtra caught fire. According to reports, the babies who were admitted in the outbound ward died due to suffocation. The fire broke out in the wee hours of January 9 at around 2 am. At that time, 17 infants were admitted in the SNCU of the hospital, 10 in the outbound ward and 7 in the inborn ward. The babies in the inborn wardwere rescued by the fire officials, however they could not rescue the 10 babies in the outbound ward.
