Renowned Assamese actor Meera Biswas’s body donated to GMCH
Assam, January 9: Veteran actor of Assam Meera Biswas’s body was donated to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital by her family members on Thursday. Her eyes were donated to Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya in Guwahati. The actor’s family members said that late Meera Biswas wanted to donate her body for the medical students. Mira Biswas was 78 when she took her last breath at Down Town Hospital in Guwahati on Tuesday due to a cardiac arrest. Meera Biswas was the mother of Bandit Queen Fame actor Seema Biswas. She was recognised as the first artist from Nalbari. The veteran actor also earned national fame for acting in the critically-acclaimed film ‘Water’ (2005) by filmmaker Deepa Mehta. She was also awarded the Jiwan Silpi Adya Sarma award.
