PM Modi distributes land patta to indigenous people in Assam, pays tribute to Netaji
Sivasagar, January 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed land patta (land allotment certificate) to over 1 lakh indigenous people of Assam during a programme at Jerenga Pathar in Sivasagar district.
While addressing a huge gathering at historic Jerenga Pathar, Prime Minister Modi said: “Assam has seen unprecedented developmental work in the last few years under the leadership of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.” He said in the last 4.5 years, the BJP-led government in Assam has worked to ensure development and progress for all in Assam while preserving its culture and heritage.
The PM announced that Sivasagar would be developed as one of the top 5 iconic archaeological sites in the country.
The PM said Assam will be the leading state in the production of methanol.
He said before the BJP came to power in Assam, there was 6 lakh of people in the state who had no land patta.
He said, “Land patta for the people of the citizens of the state was not a priority for the previous governments in Assam.”
Modi said under Sonowal-led government, 2.5 lakh families have received water supply connections.
The Prime Minister informed that under the Ujjala scheme, 4 lakh families have received LPG connections across Assam.
Modi remembered Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika and recited his famous song ‘O Mor Dharitri Ai’.
While paying tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary, PM Modi said the government has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as ‘Parakram Diwas’.
The PM also mentioned the valour and sacrifice of Joymati, the contributions of the state’s great saint, Srimanta Sankardeva, in his speech.

The programme was also attended by Assam chief minister Sonowal, finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union minister Rameswar Teli, state agriculture minister Atul Bora and others.
