Assam Girls Win Laurels at ‘Kala Utsav 2020’ Organized by Government of India
Guwahati, January 31: Two girls from Assam have received awards from the Ministry of Human Resource Development Government of India. One of the girls is from Guwahati and the other is from Sivasagar.
The girl named Nandini Kashyap participated in a national-level competition “Kala Utsav 2020″ under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Govt of India. Daughter of Dhol Samrat Somnath Borah Oja, Nandini secured the third place among all the states of India on January
28.
“It is really a very proud moment for me, representing Assam. I have secured a place in the top 3 competing in all the other states of our country. I would like to dedicate this achievement to all my well-wishers,” said Nandini Kashyap.
In the competition, she played six traditional instruments including Dhol, Khol, Negera, Madol, Bortaal and Gogona.
Another Assam girl Adhyapriya Dutta, a class 9 student from Sivasagar, also participated in the “Kala Utsav 2020“. She won the third prize in Folk Dance category for Assam Team. She studies at Sophy Mercy Memorial School.
“I have been selected from district to national level. I would like to thank my teachers and mentor especially Somnath Sir for all the help,” said Adhyapriya Dutta.
The competition was held to promote the indigenous and traditional folk culture of each and every state of India which comprises various categories of events like dance, art, act, singing, and instrumental. The function was held in online mode in Doordarshan Assam with the judge from Delhi on January 18.
