Assam Government bans broiler chicken prior Uruka

Assam, January 9:  The Assam government has banned the consumption of poultry in the state due to the outbreak of bird-flu. In an order issued by the Assam government on January 8, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department has notified about the temporary ban imposed on the entry of poultry. While the selling of broiler chicken and other poultry procured from outside has been banned, there is no prohibition in selling and consumption of local chicken, duck and pigeon. The ban will remain in force until further orders.
