‘Forest cover increased, no rhino poaching’ says Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

Guwahati, January 4: Sarbananda Sonowal, the Chief Minister of Assam on Friday said the state’s forest cover increased by 222 sq. km, and even rhino poaching has stopped under the BJP-led Government. While speaking with the media, the CM said the green cover data was based on a Forest Survey of India report. He added that over the past four and a half years, they planted 8.5 crore trees. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also said not just the forest cover, the tiger population of the Manas National Park also increased.
